A response I wrote today to an email inviting me to one of those T.E.A. parties opposing healthcare reform
I'm sorry, but for a price less than one of the two wars to cover healthcare for 96% of the population, I can't help but support the current healthcare bill. I will not be attending the TEA Party, but I do hope the Church of Christ doesn't forget to teach Christ's golden rule of love and compassion above all else that night:
From James 2:14: "Dear brothers and sisters, what's the use of saying you have faith if you don't prove it by your actions? That kind of faith can't save anyone. Suppose you see a brother or sister who needs food or clothing, and you say, "Well, good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat well" - but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, it isn't enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn't show itself by good deeds is no faith at all - it is dead and useless."
And Mathew 25:43: "I was sick and in prison but you would not take care of me.' Then they will answer him, "When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and we would not help you?' The King will reply, "I tell you, whenever you refused to help one of these least important ones, you refused to help me.' These, then, will be sent off to eternal punishment, but the righteous will go to eternal life."
May God bless us all, and lead us back to his true teachings.
